BB115 Ruined Italian Monastery

Across Europe Monasteries and Churches were an important part of the local community providing a place for education and religious service, as well as being a stout building in times of trouble. In World War Two they could provide the cornerstone of a defence with snipers or observers hiding in the bell tower, causing trouble for any attacker.
